Crystal River is the gulfside village of Citrus County.  With a bounty of waterfront properties from the rivers, springs, canals, Kings Bay, Lake Rousseau and the Gulf of Mexico, you are sure to find the perfect place to buy, rent or build.  Crystal River is designated as an Outstanding Florida Waterway and a quick look around at the area will convince you that it is well deserved.  Kings Bay is always teeming with manatees but from mid-November to the end of March when the gulf water cools, the manatee swim into the warm waters of the springs in Crystal River.  There are several local guides that provide eco- tours to see the amazing manatees and the beautiful waters of the area.  You won’t want to miss the nature trail at Three Sisters Springs comprised of five natural springs, Lake Crystal and wetlands, the view from the boardwalk is always great but is outstanding during the manatee “season”.  Crystal River is also home to the Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge and the Crystal River Preserve State Park which has a 9 mile walking and biking trail.  There is also a canoe and kayak launch into the Crystal River.  There are six city parks including Hunter Springs Park which offer fresh water swimming on the Crystal River.  In addition to a launch for canoes, kayaks and paddle boards, there is a pavilion, restroom and picnic area.  Another city park with amenities is Kings Bay Park where you can drop your line in the water from a fishing pier, BBQ and enjoy lunch on a covered picnic table and launch your non-motorized watercraft.  From this brief description of Crystal River it’s easy to understand why our area is referred to as Florida’s Nature Coast.
